I need some help disabling some feature on our NEC Electra Elite IPK phone system, but first identifying what the feature may be called because I have no idea; which is probably why I can't figure out how to turn it off. I have never dealt with a phone system before so this is all pretty new to me.

When someone calls our main number and enters the extension 618, instead of the the caller being transferred to that extension they are greeted by some automated message stating the customer service hours and to press 1 for person a, press 2 for person b, press 3 for person c, and so on.

Any idea what this feature is called and how to turn it off.

It sounds like 618 is a transaction box set up for an auto attendant function. You need to log into the VM using cosessions (old program) to reassign the transaction box number from 618 to an unused number. Then build a mailbox number 618.
