If you backup your backup (Arcserve) server, you can restore the JOB file. It's located in the "00000001.qsd" folder within Arcserve instalation directory (whereever that may be on your box). Each job is named something like 00000001.JOB, the last number refers to the Job Queue ID you see in the Arcserve Manager>>>Job Status>>>Job Queue tab view.
To restore, retrieve the file (s) you need from tape to another location, stop Arcserve job engine, place the JOB file you restored into the "00000001.qsd" folder, restart the job engine, and you should be able to see the job in the Arcserve Manager>>>Job Status>>>Job Queue tab view.
If you CAN'T retrieve the above file (s) from a backup, you have no choice but to re-create the job. Once you do that, you should save all your jobs as Arcserve scripts (asx files) to recover a deleted job alot quicker than restoring the file from the *.qsd directory.
You can do this when submitting the job or modifying it. From the top left corner, click on File>>Save As>>> and you ae presented with a "Save Job Script" dialog box. Here you can give the script a descriptive name and save it to any location you want. I have restored lost jobs several times in the past this way. The nice thing about saving jobs in this method is that the script includes ALL your customized settings for the job, like Alerts and Filters. To bring the job back into Arcserve, you'd right click in the Arcserve Manager>>>Job Status>>>Job Queue tab view and select from the context menu "Add Job", find your asx scriot file and the job is pulled into the job queue with all your settings. It's a real time saver, I urge you to use this.
Good Luck!
