Okay it appears we may ahve/had some issues with our datbase. Speaking with arcserve, but looking for outside help. WE have about 176 or so security cat files in our tmp folder. I tried merging to no avail still getting a permissioin error (unable to access database) Now originally I thought this was easliy fixed because about a month or 2 ago we changed all the service accounts and th arserve share was still linked to the old account. It has since been changed and I tried to merge those files to no avail. CA is going to have me reini. part of the databse tomorrow, but I am course looking around for advice. The thing that had keyed me into something possibly being wrong is missing version history. Any help will be much much appreciated. Thanks again.....

Also this morning we had * by some of our jobs. That seems to have been fixed not sure if this is help ful info as well.

WE are using ARCSERVE 2000

What do your activity log and job logs mention ??
Are there any errors ??

regards

Well I put a call into CA and they had me move my cat files that were in there for now. Just so we could get last nights backups done. This morning we are going to run a utility on part of the database. We are starting to get unable to access the database errors and the database engine is stopped for some reason.

Can your problems have anything to do with this :

There may be an environmental variable that needs to be checked.
In Windows 2000 Right Click on the My Computer Icon and choose Properties. Then go to the Advanced Tab --> Environment Variables. Look for the RNNAME variable and make sure that it is the proper name of the server.

In Windows NT Right Click on the My Computer Icon and check the RNNAME variable in the Environment Variables. Make sure that the RNNAME variable reflects the proper name of the server.

If the RNNAME variable is wrong, then simply deleting the variable and rebooting the server will recreate the RNNAME with the proper name of the server.

Just a thought

regards
