I have an Access 2003 database which has been running just fine for the past year but recently we have been experiencing problem with it crashing and then an error message that Access is no longer open the file.
This database is on a network and has several users and here is the message that we get when we try to open it:
========================This database is in an unexpected state; Microsoft Office Access can't open it.
This database has been converted from a prior version of Microsoft Access by using the DAO CompactDatabase method instead of the Convert Database command on the Tools menu (Database Utilities submenu) This has left the database in a partially converted state.
If you have a copy of the database in its original format, use the Convert Database command on the Tools menu (Database Utilities submenu) to convert it. If the original database is no longer available, create a new database and import your tables and queries to preserve your data. Your other database objects can't be recovered.
-----------------------------------------
This has happened three times since the middle of last week and I have restored the database from an original back up copy... I can only assume that when this database is opened and not recognized, the users are selecting the option to repair it and this is what is partially killing it.
Any suggestions on how to diagnose and fix this problem?
Thank you for your help
