Hi I am new to this particular PBX system. I just started at this company and the Admin here cannot remember how to configure the MATWorx Studio 3.61 software which is connected to a US Robotics Modem to dial into the PBX. MATWorx was working fine about a month ago and now it will not connect to the PBX so he tried deleting the modem and adding it again with a different driver which caused the LA and NJ PBX Devices to disappear, now we cannot add them again or connect to the PBX at all. He says we need to uninstall and reload the software but it needs a key on a floppy which is lost, he does however have the setup disc. The main reason we use the system here is to change the names on the phones and update certain phone numbers that forward calls in the message system for Tech support. If you guys can give me a little direction I would really appreciate it. Thanks for the help!

Don't bother, just use hyperterminal or some other terminal emulator like procomm. See the FAQs for how to use it!

Ok i'll read into those, I can use XP to do all this right? Or do i need a win98 machine, everything i am looking at is in reference to 98, thanks for the help.

If you have xp then you already have hyperterminal it's usually in the start-all programs-accessories-communications tab. just start it up and it will lead you through setting up a new connection which can include the dial up number. Then when it connects, you are immediately in MOC mode and you can control it using the keys as described here....
If you are doing a lot of names there is even a name to hex converter in the FAQs that can make it easier to enter them in hex so that you can use spaces!

Hey OzzieGeorge Thanks for the help so far I got the names updated pretty easily using CAT MODE. I am having a bit of trouble looking for the code to get into the part where i can edit the phone numbers for the messaging. When a client leaves a message it calls a tech support guy, if it is not answer after 10min it goes to the next tech support guy, and so on till the message is answered. Any help with this would be great thank you very much!

This doesn't sound like a system feature! Do you have a Zeacomm system connected or voicemail?

Ok my boss was confused there is another program/system we use for that which still works, what he meant was the system wide speed dial list that he needed me to figure out how to edit. They start with #001, #002, etc... Thanks for the help OzzieGeorge!

Correction ##001, ##002, etc...

Cmd 72 de (memory number) de Will initially display the line acces code. you then hit de again and it will display the number dialled. To delete a number, you have to enter the line access code followed by a comma then CCC. To enter a new number (you don't have to delete the old one first) simply enter the command as stated above and whilst the access code is showing, enter the new number as follows (access code), (number) exe. You must have the comma between the access code and the number!

However this only applies if you are using the 300 memory block. Some people need more memories than the system originally allowed as system speed dials, so the software allows you to opt to use a 1000 memory block normally used for personal speed dials. If this is the case, you have to use Cmd 74. The syntax being 74 de (4 digit memory location) de and from there it is the same as above. the four digit location is made up of a 1000 range number followed by the 3 digit location number. rather than take you through Cmd 08 to find out the 1000 block number, it would be easier to test two speed dials to find out what number they dial and then compare that to what is in each of the 1000 ranges to find which is in use!

Woo Hoo!!!! Worked great now i am getting the hang of this and know where to find the code in the manual, Thanks for the help OzzieGeorge! One more question on all this though, I notice that the 72 Speedial Code is in the manual to access it from COMMAND=, but why is it that i can not find 770 to edit names in the manual? Again thanks for the help!

Are you looking for Cmd 770 or 77Y where Y=0? You have to understand that the commands are actually 2 digit Hexadecimal numbers and are followed in some cases by a modifier (Y, YY or longer). So when looking for any command, you look for the first two digits in the book, then down the page for any modifier! Also in my experience it is better to use 771 and convert the name to Hex as you can then use spaces (there is a way to create a hex converter for excel in the FAQs or use the table in the book).

Out of interest, your original problem could be solved by looking for the file MWCONFIG.INI in the windows folder of the computer you have matworx on as that is where it stores your dial up list. reads like this.....

[MATomic]
MAX=1000000
[PBX List]
PBX ID's=First Entry|Local 9600
LastID=13
[First Entry]
Port=COM 1
BPS=9600
PBX Timeout=NONE
PBX ID=12
Connection Type=Direct
PBX Port=0
[Local 9600]
Port=COM 1
BPS=9600
PBX Timeout=NONE
PBX ID=13
Connection Type=Modem
Phone#=092282899
Manufacture=Default
Init String=AT&F&C1&D2 L2 X4 S0=0 S2=128 S7=55&K3%C3\N3
Terminate String=ATH
UsePW=0
PBX Port=1

You should be able to create more entries by following the obvious conventions!

Ahhh.. I see it now! No wonder I had a hard time finding it! Hey OzzieGeorge, thanks for the help, and I will give that ini file a try, thanks again I appreciate all the help!
