I have had to re-install W2K along with Delphi6 Enterprise and IB6.
Now clicking on the IBConsole has the normal result - from which I have also established that IBServer is running.
But nowI have no control over it. I get no response from clicking on the Server Icon - to allow me to turn it off/on - as I used to be able to do.

Can someone please advise what I am missing

What server icon?

Don't you need to go to the Control Panel and to Services to shutdown the IB service?

I was referring to C:\Program Files\Borland\InterBase\bin or a short-cut from it.

Somehow I have sorted it out - but can't remember how. I seem to recall that itwas through Control Panel->Services.

Thanks anyway.

(Note that I still use the words "ït out" after the word "sorted". In an attempt at preserving the English language! :) :) )
