Just bricked 2 406v2 systems by trying this upgrade. Cannot escape from the following message on DTE that keeps recycling.

Any input will be appreciated.... Thanks in advance

You did not go to 5.2.999 first!!!
Use this FAQ to recover your systems: faq940-6158

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Thanks...now that I've calmed dow because I could not find and documentation about an interim release requirement.......my other part of the email states that even using the document above it would not escape from the loop.....any suggestions?

try by quikly pressing the escape key WHILE you are powering on the system.

It's a colleage doing the escaping.

Apparently not fast enough. This starts immediately after power up. less than a second and cycles every second.

Since when will the systems not boot?
Were they operation and then didn't boot or just been in a cupboard somewhere?
What software level were they running?
What PCS level?
If operational what was being done to them immediately before the boot problem?
Has new hardware been fitted?
Is it you or your colleague doing thing (remote diagnostics via chinese whispers - doomed to fail!).
Diagnosis requires information and you seem keen to not provide any!

keep trying the DTE and be faster
It took me 2 hours of hitting the escape button before I could revive my SOE when I bought it becasue the previous owner had tried to upgrade it.
If it doesn't work I might be willing to buy one of them :) to try my luck, for really cheap of course.

You really need to keep hitting the escape button more and faster and on the right moment.

Thanks guys. Looks as if we need to get our escape fingers in shape. Nice to know they will be able to be recovered even if we screwed the upgrade.

Sizbut, all due respect, but please read the thread carefully and have appropriate experience before responding.

Thanks everyone for your help.
