Good evening,

I am really hoping someone can help. I am told that today or phones "freaked out" and sounded all staticy, then started flashing red lights.

When I got here, they were all flashing red. I rebooted the BCM50a to no avail.

I recorded a video of what it does when I plug it in.

It does the same cycle over and over.

Thank you.

The Linux operating system fails to boot. Based on the amount of time during which you have the green LED, it looks like it gets partially through the boot process, but eventually it aborts and starts all over again. Some file(s) necessary for the system startup and probably on hard disk sectors that are no longer readable.

In short, your hard drive is slowly failing. You should get a replacement hard drive.

Yup hard drive definately

So, I just happen to be the most technical person on our church staff, and fixing this falls to me...

I have an IT background, but virtually no phone system experience....

Can anyone explain (in 6th grader terminology) what I would need to do to fix this? What size/type of hard drive? How to get the software onto it? Other things I need to know...

No one local works on these, so I'm at a loss... Is it possible to send it in and have it repaired? Are there good, not too expensive, companies that do this type of thing in the US?

Thanks so much!

Yea you can ship it to any of us and we could swap it

Most of us have web links on our profiles

Should advise you the thing will need to also be reprogrammed unless you have a backup

phoneguy... What will the programming entail????

To bring everyone up to speed -- Sometime over the weekend the system successfully booted. It has been running fine for two days. Knowing I likely have a hard drive going out, I tried to do a backup of the system, and it apparently didn't like it very much... It has gone back to its previous state of disrepair.
