I'm trying to decide what to buy for my business: Lotus Notes or Microsoft Outlook? Can you guys give me pros/cons/comments/horror stories?

Currently, we're using gmail. Unprofessional, I know.

Thanks in advance,

(PS - What do you call non-webmail? I'm hopeless, aren't I?)

grande,

Both of your referenced applications are only the frontend side of mail(allows users to read/send and manage mail, calendars, & schedules).

These are not mail server applications to allow a business to host their own mail system. MS Exchange server and Linux Mail are a mail systems that would allow this.

GMail & other web-based mail providers are not specifically unprofessional. If you are a small-medium business, having your own *.com address with mail might look more professional. This can be obtained through many providers for a fee and will normally have the option of hosting your *.com mail.

Hope that this assists you.

Thanks, rvnguy. Also, what's the deal with 'Domino' that I keep hearing about? What is that?

grande,

Basically, it is a comparable product to MS Outlook/schedule+/Web Workplace.

Just a decision of MS or another provider. You can view the features here:

IBM/Lotus Domino

You did not state if you currently are using a server, what type, or the number of clients. This is paramount to selecting a economical solution as many of these packages are quite expensive and if the org is not prepared for electronic exchange vs face to face meetings could not be easily accepted.
