Hi everyone I have tried sending an email to a local company and the amil bounced back saying

"#5.7.1 smtp;554 5.7.1 This message has been blocked because the HELO/EHLO domain is invalid."

Any ideas please

Sounds like you're considered to be spamming.

Make sure you have a [google]reverse DNS[/google] entry for your public IP address.

I would like to add my two cents since we have as of today resolved this issue.

Our problem in getting a PTR record created (that is what you need to fix reverse DNS issues) was that the entity that hosts our Primary DNS and the entity that owns our IP address are two different companies. The Primary DNS people say that they cannot create a PTR record because that is the responsibility of the people that own the IP address and the IP address owners say it needs to be the people that host your Primary DNS.

The solution is to scream and pull all of your hair out.

That didn't work for me either. What I ended up doing was to have our IP address owners host our Primary DNS.

Seems so easy now.

reverse DNS is the responsibility of the ISP. It has nothing to do with who handles your public DNS records. Just your ISP, since they own the IP address you're using.

Pat,

I do think that you are correct but tell that to the people that I had to deal with and I know I am not the only one who has had to deal with this in this way.

When a large ISP tells a small business that you do not know what you need or who needs to do it, what is one supposed to do or think?

I am sure that if I would have posted it here my problems would have went away much sooner.

I have done a search on spamhause and we are all clear as spammers so im gonna try and contact our isp to check our reverse dns entry.
