hello,

Wondering whether anyone can help! I a w2k network and have office 2000 installed on the professional client machines, however everytime a different user uses a machine and goes to open an office document the windows installer loads saying "please wait while office 2000 configures" before it loads into office! I can accept that when user logs in for the first this happens but it appears whenever they log in to a machine they have not logged into before. Im guessing it is something to do with the local profiles but im unsure how to stop this. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help

Kind Regards,

Amb3rsil

The easiest way is to copy to login as a user and setup Microsoft office. Then go to system properties --> user profiles and copy the current user (the one that you've just setup corretly with office 2000) profile to the c:\winnt\profiles\default user directory. Next time a user logs in he's profile will have the correct information to load office without that annoying screen.

You create roaming profiles on a server. You log on to the server as the user and set up their profile the way you want it. Log back on as the administrator. Create a folder for the profiles and share it. Then in system properties, user profiles tab, highlight the user and select copy to C:\profiles\username. Then in active direstory, go to the user properties, profile tab and specify the path. \\servername\profiles\username. They will use the same settings from any computer in the domain. Matt Wray
