i don't know what i'm doing wrong? did i install it wrong?
i need to use client and server tools so i use developer eddition. please help !!

Hi,

There must be a 'sa' password that you are not setting correctly, do you know what the password is?

When you first set up SQL Server, you use the SA account. You then need to add logins to allow access to the database. Set your database back to Mixed Authentication. Regisgter the server in Enterprise Manager using the SA account. Go to Security>Logins and create a new login with your account information (making yourself a sysadmin). Then switch the server back to Windows authentication only.

It sounds to me like the service isn't starting.

Make sure the service is starting. From the error you gave, it sounds like the account that you entered to run the SQL Server doesn't have the correct username or password.

Try starting the service manually from Computer Managment or from dos and see what it says.

Between the ESP=ON and the RUM (Read Users Mind) upgrade, I'm ready to go.
