Can anyone guide me to some best practises followed while working in the MicroStrategy environment. Could be in the form of some useful tips and dos-donts.

If you have access to the MSTR support site, dig through the tech notes. There's how it's supposed to work (in the manual) and how it actually does work (in the bug list).
