Hello all,

I'm looking to attach hard drives externally but don't want to go to the expense of buying aseperate external hard drives. I want to buy a hard drive caddy (enclosure/housing?) but aren't sure whats the best brand?

Does anyone have any reccommendations?
What size drives would people recommend - 2.25" 3.5" 5.25"?

Thanks for any help

well, if its an internal hard drive that you want to use, then the only size is the 3.5" thats the only one for those hard drives, and to me, I havent found brands to be of that much concern

Yeah, i thought that would be the best option - that way i can use old drives (i hope). Brsboarder, if you're in the UK, do you know any online stores that i might purchase this from - i've tried kelkoo but to no avail and even pcworld doesn't stock them. What name are these things commonly called - hard drive caddies, enclosures or housing?

I have bought HDD Caddys's from Maplin Electronics, here is an example of one of their products:

My local shop is Chatham Kent (3 miles away) if you haven't heard of Maplins, they are a very big Electrical Shop franchise thats got loads of shops in UK

You can buy online and their products are a good price tag, failing that you can look at Ebay for even cheaper prices!
