I thought I'd try this again with a new subject header
We have 9641 and 3631 telephones connnecting to a 8300 in a G430. It has a MM711 with 3 loop start analog trunks. I also connected a type 2500 analog phone to the mm711 for a test.
On calls through the trunks, not internal calls to each other, conversation sounds normal until the line goes quiet. Then any background noise in the room is heard in the ear piece of the phone. It is pretty loud like it is being picked up by the microphone and amplified.
It only happens with the IP phones which makes it sound like the AGC is on but it is not. Then again it only happens when they are connected to an analog trunk. That makes it sound like it is the trunks. But it does not happen when the 2500 test set makes or receives a call from a trunk.
The trunks have the gain left at default (high). But I believe trunk gain would amplify all signals not just the weak ones like AGC would.
Loss plans are all at default.
It seems like AGC is active somewhere and is amplifying the weak sounds in the room but it is not on in the phones.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
