Can anyone tell me if there are any headsets available for IP Office, specificially the 1416 series, that allow the user to answer a call by pressing a button on the headset? instead of using a lifter setup?

Plantronics Bluetooth & DECT handsets can do this with the correct cable.

Computers are like Air conditioners:-
Both stop working when you open Windows

I have two Plantronics DECT headset demos. Right now I am using a CS540. It still makes me press the button. Are you saying the special cable I need is an extra accessory? is it the EHS cable?

Yes you need an EHS cable.
You got two types (A and B) and you need the A.
Only then it will work.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Plantronics CS55 with the APV6A cable, just one caveat if you have a DID ringing onto your phone and it rings with a double ring the headset will not alert you. Plantronics blames Avaya and Avaya blames Plantronics for that problem.
it will however alert on intercom and transferred calls without any problems.

Here is the Jabra ESH guide for most AVAYA handsets.

And the one for plantronics.
