Good day all,

I'm fishing for suggestions on headset use for a receptionist. The client has IPO406, DS modules, analog trunk modules. No analog station ports, no VCM, no IP phones in use - all phones are 4412, except the receptionist's 4424 with DSS (actually on order, not yet installed).

What is the best way to go if she only can get approval to spend $$ on a headset that goes with her 4424?

What is best solution if she can get them to buy her a wireless phone with headset for mobility?

Thanks!

Talk to your vendor about headsets, any of the Avaya freedom of choice headsets will work nicely with the 4424. Personally I prefer to use the 10U100 analog wireless headset adapter, connect it to a POTS port and program coverage of my digital set. It comes with a headset, or if you already have a freedom of choice headset you also get an adapter to use that with it. It has a small dialpad so you can answer, hang up, dial, etc. from anywhere.

On my desk I have a 4424 with a 10U100 sitting right beside it, I use my freedom of choice headset and can quickly switch back and forth between my deskphone and the wireless - I love it :)

Thanks for the input. They are in a pickle, though, as there are no analog ports - only DS module ports.

Kind of pricey to buy a module for analog ports as well as the wireles phone.

Just a note, Coverage will not work for hunt group calls.

figures that Avaya would do that AFTER we put in the 406. Is there a url for info on the new 406?

No it's all top-secret classified R3 stuff - we could tell you more but then we'd have to shoot you ;-)

Look for more info next month when it's maybe being released.

Peter

PS In a nutshell, it has 8 digital ports & 2 pots ports like the 403, an 8 port switch instead of hub, and a slot for a compact flash card for embeded mail. Ooops! Now I have to shoot you...

Hmm.... most interesting.

Now, if they'll just make the bloody thing cost competitive

Against what? A nortar MICS? Never happen - but it's also way out the MICS's league.

Against a definity/multivantage - it's very competitive, and IMHO it's not a huge stretch to put the two side by side in the under 350 users category. Each have impressive features the other does not.

How long before the ip406V2 does to the IP403 what the SoE did to the IP401?

Well now, I've come upon an Avaya 3810 wireless phone that is said to function on an IP Office DS port.

Anyone tried that one before?
