After a disaster recovery for a client (my disaster), involving retrieving whole filestore using getdataback and resurrecting the installation (successfully, apart from this issue), they tell me Outlook Express is only receiving (and sending) headers. Body of the message appears blank (apart from the AV scanned message).
Haven't seen it myself yet (will be later today here in UK), so looking for ideas as to cause before I go, as I've not seen this behaviour before.
Notes: I have recovered a number of installations (not from my disasters!) similarly, and haven't had this problem before.
Almost forgot - recovery included a repair reinstall - so would have expected OE to be ok.
