Hello

When I start up Microsoft Word 2003, the header space is not showing on the document. However, when I click View > Header and Footer then close, it appears.

It then remains until I close Word and on restart, it dissapears again.

I have done a Google search, no luck and also checked Tools > Options etc and cannot find out why this is happening.

Any suggestions guys?

Thank you

I think, it might be connected to the layout you open your document in. If you chose View->Print layout, you would see your header and footer (as oppose to Normal and Web layout).
So change, then save your document while in the Print layout. It should open the next time the same way.

Thanks Stella (again!)

I'll try out your suggestion.

It could also very well be that you have Hide White space on.

If you put the cursor in the space above the visible page it becomes a up/down arrow. Clicking hides the "white space", including the header.

If you hide the white space, close Word, then re-open Word, the white space (for the new document) remains hidden.

Hi Gerry, I'm in the office tomorrow so I'll try that out as well and post back. It must be something simple and this has happended all of a sudden.

Many thanks

Issue resolved. It appears that "Hide White space" was on. As Gerry mentioned, if you hold the cursor at the top of the page, the cursor turns into an up/down arrow cursor. If you left click when this happens, the header reappears.

Isn't it just a shame that not everything in life is as simple as this!

Thank you guys
