I have set this Quantum Fireball ltc10 up on two computers, one with ATA-33, the other with ATA-100 in ALL modes(Slave, Master, Cable select). None see the HDD. It has data on it and I cannot afford to lose the data by Low-leveling it. Have both machines BIOS set to "Auto" for the HDD. Any ideas???

You could try not auto detecting. Enter the sector, cylinder and head information manually (there should be a BIOS enrty called "USER" or "CUSTOM" etc). This information should be on the label stuck on your hard drive.

Is it a new HD? Is it realy large (100 GB)? Maybe you have to flash upgrade your BIOS before it will recognise.

The HDD is a 10gb, it died on the user, just stopped.

You have probably lost the controller card on the drive. Time to start thinking about a backup restore or a data recovery service. Ed Fair

Tried the CHS route... Decided this was best left to the Professionals! Sending it off to Data Recovery specialist. Thanks for your help!!!
