What you can do is to connect up via a serial port at 9600 baud with a null modem adapter. It's possible to recover some bad sectors at the command line prompt.
The trouble is that most computers don't come with a serial port, but USB ones work OK.
Failing that I should have a Acronis copy that should work. Contact me off line.
