Win2k Pro
40G WD HD
128 RAM
Iomega CDR 450

I moved a working CDR from one computer to another. Now the computer with the CDR crawls along. I'm running chkdsk /r and defrag as I type this.

Can anyone think of a reason that the hard drive would suddenly run 60% slower?

Also, what are optimum settings in the BIOS?

TIA...

Your hard drive has probably slowed to the speed of the cdr.You get the speed of the slowest device on a channel. Ed Fair

Last post did not go quite far enough. Your 40GIG HDD should be master on the primary IDE, and your CDR should be master on the SECONDARY IDE port. This way the CDR will not slow the HDD down.
