I just recently had to format my C: which contained windows and all programs, before formatting this drive I backed up my important files onto D: After format and fresh install of XP Home, D now is shows in my computer as well as device manager. However, drive is unaccessible and when double clicked upon a message that reads "Drive is not formatted, format now?" is shown. Could someone please help me with this problem as formatting the D drive which contains all the backup information would definitely be a setback.

Did you have GoBack installed on your system prior to the format? If so, then the reinstallation of it should help. Otherwise, if your D: drive was formatted NTFS prior to the C: reformat, there has been no reported fixes to this symptom other than a data recovery tool like GetDataBack.
