Help!! I've got a backup PC on my network with two rather aged HD's (4Gb Seagate and 6Gb Fujitsu). The system has been canibalised from other systems long since dead. Every so often the PC will shut down and will only reboot after the power connector has been removed from the back for a few minutes. This I presume is the old 235W power supply failing. Sadly I now have another problem in as much as the PC now no longer recognises any drives during POST and advises me to insert a boot disk to continue. Is it likley I've fried the drives? They don't seem to be spinning on some boots, others fine. It's not a major tragedy as the system is only for essential backups from my main system (and running SETI). Could I have wreaked the boot sector with multiple forced shutdowns?

Another slight problem is that my main system's HD (IBM Deskstar 40Gb) seems to have developed a strange double squeek. This only happens every couple of days, but has me holding my breath waiting for it to fail (a worry with my backup PC down). Any Ideas?
