I'm about to update the firmware on an HBA assigned to one lpar.
The lpar is one of two on a p570 server.

The question is, will I need to reboot both lpars, and/or reboot the server as a whole, or just reboot the lpar the HBA is assigned to ?

thanks in advance,

madra

I only ask stupid questions because I'm thick

You only have to boot the lpar using the HBA.

When in doubt,,, Power out...

With a correct setup (dual HBAs, dual SAN-Fabric) you won't even have to reboot the LPAR. And most HBAs' device drivers allow for firmware upgrade while the adapter is in use... Even so, dual HBAs is a must!
