having trouble to install mysql on a Sun Solaris box

I may come to a wrong forum, but I want to try my luck.

I'm having trouble to install mysql database server on a SUN Solaris box. The error message is 'Directory checksum error'. Based on the documen on the

http://www.mysql.com.

This error caused by default tar program on the Sun box, and it gives a link to get GNU Tar(gtar). However, I could not install the gtar this site provided. I download tar1.13 version from

http://www.gnu.org

and I still got the same error.

Any input will be appreciated!

have you try download GNU tar from

http://www.sunfreeware.com?

They have binary file for solaris sparc and x86.
