Hi folks,

When I install the Solaris_8_Recommended patch cluster I receive the following errors:

Using patch_order file for patch installation sequence
Installing 108869-11...
Installation of 108869-11 failed. Return code 8.

I even tried installing the latest patch for the /bin/login vulnerability and I received this error:

Checking installed patches...
One or more patch packages included in
111085-02 are not installed on this system.

Patchadd is terminating.

I'm trying to install these patches on an old sparc station 20 running Solaris 8. If I install the same patches on an E250 running Solaris 8 I have no problems.

Is this an architecture problem?

StickyBit.

When installing the Recommended cluster a very common errors are code 2 (already applied), and code 8 (attempting to patch a package that is not installed), as you can see not a real problem , about 111085-02, is inform you that you need first install other patchs check the (Patches required with this patch:) on patch README.

Carlos Almeida,
