I have a laptop running XP Pro SP1 w/ 1 administrator account created by the owner and no login required during startup.
It was joined to a domain w/Active Directory v5.2.3790.0 and group policy implemented which created a login screen requiring a username and password and also changed the administrator account to a user account. The issue is, after unjoining the domain I am unable to restore the user account to an admin account and I cannot get rid of the login screen. How do I return this system to its original state?

Thank You,

M1

Start, Run, control userpasswords2
Uncheck the box at top, "Users must enter a username and password to use this computer." Apply, then answer the prompts.

As for changing the status of the user, logon as Administrator (use Safe Mode) and change the user type with the Control Panel, User Accounts applet.
