Having a hard time setting presets?

Hi, using PS3 on Windows.

File > new in CS2 had lots of page choices for presets.

CS3 does not.

I want to open the file>new and get a 8.5x11 page in inches as my default.....I set it up, close the program (or create a workspace...) for some reason, still doesn't open to what I want.

...CS3 still has various default page sizes, just under separate categories, international paper or us paper etc...

...then in the size pull down menu you have the sizes this category offers, us paper has letter size, try changing to that one, or make your own size then click on the save preset button, name it and then quit and relaunch photoshop...

...if it still doesn't stick, when you launch a new doc, the delete the preferences for photoshop and restart...
