We are running Macola 6.2 with Btrieve 6.15. We have one workstation that will not load the Btrieve module from the server. Mapping to M in place. We get "a cannot load protected mode pm switch". Several other workstations work fine. Running on both XP and 2000.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Bill

Perhaps a memory issue? Run some diags.

I would suggest copying the config.sys, autoexec.bat, and bt.ini files from a machine that works to the machine that does not work and see if that solves the problem.

did you solve? I remember having to use lmhosts file with newer OS workstations and 6.2 macola. Hopefully, you have upgraded your macola to windows or replaced with something else by now. Otherwise, you've got a big upgrade nightmare waiting for you.

Macolahelp,

Are you saying you can get 6.2 to run on an XP workstation? If so I am interested in how.

I was able to get it to run on win2k for a while. I made a half hearted attempt to do it for a client on XP, but told them it would take longer to figure it out than to upgrade to windows macola. It probably could be done if we really wanted to. Do you have someone who needs this? If so, we can experiment. Every day that goes by, though, 6.15 fades further from my memory.

No desire to experiment on this. I do not believe it can be done. I thought maybe you had already done it.
