Have you had problems using a MSP2000 file in MSP2003?

Hi,

I opened a MSP2000 file in MSP2003 and resource leveling no longer appears to function.

Resource leveling is set to its defaults (automatic, day-by-day, entire project, within slack is NOT checked, can adjust individual assignments and can create splits in remaining work ARE checked). Tasks are set to "start as soon as possible."

Task priorities are not 1000. I've tried adding new tasks, saving the file in MSP2003 and re-opening.

When I assign resources which cause over allocations, tasks do not move. No warnings are displayed either. When I check the resource usage sheet I do see the over allocations in red.

If I create a new project and recreate the scenario with a few tasks, leveling works as expected and tasks are moved when resources are over allocated.

It's looking like I will need to recreate my entire project in 2003. Has anyone else run into this problem?

If you are willing to try opening the file on your install of MSP2003 please let me know and I will email it to you.

Thanks,

David

If you want to sanitize the project first then View | Gantt, display the column "Unique ID", copy it and paste it over task Name. View | Resource Sheet, display the column "Unique ID", copy it and paste it over resource Name.

Leveling still did not work...

I would have still re-created the file if it had.

There seems to be some mis-communication. You asked if anyone was interested in testing the file on his/her copy of P2003. I provided my address so you could send me a copy of the file and gave you a way of sanitizing it so that identifying or private-and-confidential information could be eliminated. I did not provide any approach to solving your problem. The offer is still available to you.
