Okay, so i've been using Apache for around 5 months now.

Worked fine,

I recently got a virus and had to wipe the harddrive, reinstalled XP and whatnot.

Now appx every 7 hours I have to hit restart on Apache... any clue why?

XP is not the best platform in the world for running a server because they seem to have stripped everything away that servers need to be stable. M$ wants you to buy their server software. Getting back to your question, I can only guess. Are you running any firewall or virus software that can be messing with apache when it tries to create child processes or write to its logs? Do your logs give any indication on why apache keeps shutting down? Is there anything else than can be trying to use port 80 such as a P2P program like Kazaa?

Nope, I successsfully have done this before on MS MEdia Center Edition, so I don't know the problem :S
