Using Windows XP SP1a, and IE6 SP1.

Sometimes links just won't work (the bar at the bottom goes up really slowly and just stops half way). If I click it again, it sometimes works. If it doesn't, clicking the link AGAIN will make it appear.

When it does appear, it appears really fast like it should (using 1Mbps Broadband).

Why does this happen? It didn't used to happen prior to a reformat.

I've also noticed that Java Links just won't open no matter how many times I click them.

Have you tried installed XP SP2?

Hope this helps,
Dan

I did, yes, and SP2 mucks up the internet completely. (let's please not go into SP2 right now)

Lol I've seen you post to that FAQ is craploads of threads.

Adaware + Norton came clean.

Also, if the link I click is "Post Message" or something similar, and it appears to not work, then if I press it again and it does work, then the message gets posted twice - indicating the first one DID get through...

Is the broadband connection DSL?

If so your MTU setting is likely wrong, (and your RWIN setting likely needs a bump).

. Test

. Then make the MTU and RWIN changes to all clients using the freeware DrTCP tool from the same site:
. If using a broadband router, many have a manual MTU setting that can be made. Make the same changes as you made in the client.

And a note on "Lol I've seen you post to that FAQ is craploads of threads." I wish it was not necessary either.

Here's my current settings according to the program:

My connection is a Cable Broadband Connection (1Mbps).
