Have to Chg SSID to connect wireless laptop

Have a Linksys router BEFW11S4 and DSL to WAN Port, using DHCP
WINXP Wired
Win98 Wired
Win98 Wireless
All above can see each other and connect to net.
But:
Laptop WINXP with WPC11 wireless NIC
When I reboot laptop no connection or internet.
If I change the SSID on the router and and the wireless units all is well. When I reboot the laptop same problem.
