I am stunned! Just received an email from Cramsession and one of the stories is about the current MCSE runaround. I am MCSE NT4 with TCP/IP and IIS electives, last week I needed to pass 4 W2K exams to gain MCSE 2000, this week all I need is 2, as my NT4 electives have been re-instated as valid for MCSE 2000.

So all I need now is 70-240 (not so easy) and one design exam, yippee!! (I think).

Yes MS reinstated the NT4 certification. No you cannot use those tests tword the Win2K MCSE. You will still need the 4 tests you though origianally. The NT4 tests are not on the criteria for Win2K. You can take the 70-240 exam but you are still regiured to take 4 more tests (you may have passed most of those, that would be why you stated you only need 2). The 70-240 is only available until the end of Dec. then its back to the 3 network exams. James Collins

James,

I heard that in fact MCSE 2000 can have both TCPIP and IIS as its electives. Then you need 70-240 upgrade exam to cover the cores and a design elective to finish.

I have done some research on this this weekend and I cannot verify that. It could be the case but its hard to verify. On the MS certification site those two are not listed as alternatives. James Collins

I stand corrected. Looks like they count if you have taken them already. But also loks lke they will stay retired.
I apologize for my misinformation. James Collins
