Have IP address, cannot ping

This machine is running win2000 professional. It worked fine up until a few days ago. It gets an ip address through dhcp, and is able to share files on the network. It cannot browse the internet through domain name or ip address. Also it cannot ping any other machines on the network, or the router either. Have tried on different routers, different ethernet cables, nic's, did a simple uninstall/reinstall of tcp/ip. Maybe there is a better way of making sure tcp/ip was completely removed and reinstalled, otherwise I'm out of ideas. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Maybe try giving it a static IP address or change the IP Range in the DHCP server.

We tried a static ip address, we also changed the ip address to a known working ip from a different machine on the network, still no luck

What is the Ip of the Workstation and the ip of the PC you are tryuing to ping? Are they on the same subnet?

Is there another DHCP on the network?

winsock corrupted?? - download a winsock fixer
to see "ipconfig /displaydns" ?? - To flush "ipconfig /flushdns"
Can you ping the server name?

Try changing out the NIC with another brand of NIC.

Network issues are pain the but.

One time a tech spent over eight hours on a similiar issue and walked out on the client.
Came in heard how much time the other ugy worked on the issue and swapped out the NIC - fixed the issue - took five minutes to fix this one. It happens

Have you tested the stack on the nic. Try pinging 127.0.0.1 and see what the response is.
