Hello ... my ISP reduced my cable connection to (almost) dial-up speeds today. They informed me I had 600+ megabytes of data transfer between 3:00pm and 7:00pm today, although all I was doing was browsing.

I checked my firewall log and saw some 55,000 entries for the one IP address (all between 3:00 and 7:00pm)

Any ideas how I can determine where the Ip address belongs (I am withholding the address at the moment). I have searched Google.com and only found two results, one being a major phone company in Aus. I can ping it.

Can I determine what occurred in the 55,000 logged items in my firewall?

Can I determine what this oomputer was doing to mine?

I recently downloaded:

Windows 2007 Beta
Opera (something) Web browser - which I was in at the time

Could of either of these caused it?

Never had anything like this happen before.

Am concerned!

I use Trend Micro Internet/Security Professional.

Lot's of questions I know ...

Was it 600MB upstream or downstream. If upstream my guess is your PC is taking part in a DoS attack.
