Hi:
Just bought a couple of BayStack ARNs to learn something beyond Cisco - will take CCNA exam before Sept 30.

Had fun with the console port cable - got that working.

When the Router starts up, it does the diags and runs and boots ARN.EXE from the Flash card.

After booting it comes up with login prompt.

Some of the messages here mention a default Manager acct.

Is there a default Login id which I can use ?
Is there a default Password which I can use ?

I have gone thru the ARN password recovery posted in msgs here. Keyed in d/l/n:5 410000 0 in debug mode. Then keyed in boot to reboot the router. Went ok except it continues to give me the Login prompt. I key in a junk id and then it comes back with a Password prompt.

Have gone thru Nortel's support PDFs for ARN and found nothing about default Login ID and Password (Manager or User or anything else). No manuals came with the ARNs.

Thanks in advance for any and all help with this.

Hi

I've not worked on these for a while, but 'Manager' with an upper case M is a valid login name. The default for the password is just to press the return key (if I remember correctly).

If there is no config file saved on the flash card there is also a basline setup routine using the username 'Install'

The basic setup can be used to assign an IP address to the ethernet port on the box, and the best tool to manipulate the ARN is Site Manager. Versions of this, although not the latest, can be found on under support.
