Have anyone here used CORBA?
(I suppose that, since there is this forum)
What type of applications have been developed using this?
What have been your results and limitations?
Would you recommend it?
How it compares with COM?

We are about to undertake a major project which uses CORBA. We are writting a web based share trading system, just getting tooled up at the moment. However this is noT the firms first CORBA implementation, the other was a C++/CORBA application - it runs excellently. I will post more info as project progresses.

It is more flexible than COM as you can write objects in COBOL or ActiveX (VB, Delphi, Powerbuilder) which talk to JAVA/C++ objects. This is one of the reasons people are starting to use it. You don't need to rewrtie the 30 year old COBOL programs just wrap them with corba.

Cal
