Haunted phones

I have 2 phones that are ringing each other without anybody dialling the numbers. A phone will ring and the display says the person who has called but this person is not on the phone so if the ringing phone is answered there is none there but if the person who made the call picks up the phone then they can talk to each other!?!?!? I hope that makes sense!! Also both extensions are no experienceing bad lines with them crackling occasionally. and also the handsfree turns itself on on both phones!!! this is very bizarre - has anyone else come across anything like this? The 2 phones in questions are situated next to each other on 2 desks and the wall socket they plug into are next to each other. They are on differnet cards on the switch and the ports are not close together.

do a print of the TN's for each of the phones. how are they set up?

my first question is why do you have them programmed to hunt and fwd right back to the extension? It should be programmed to go to voicemail or somewhere else besides itself.

I would out them and put them back again. If possible re do all the cabling. ie replace the jumpering - check the socket etc

Hi,

I also had this problem a couple of years ago (The phantom calls)...

It took me weaks to figure it out. The problem was transfer...

Somebody would call set A. Set A wants to transfer the call to set b. Set b doesn't answer. Set a takes back the call WITHOUT pressing RELEASE first.

Set b keeps ringing. Set b person comes back to his/her desk. Picks up the phone... And guess... Nobody is there...

Maybe this is your problem...

If Bill Gates had a nickel for every time Windows crashed... Oh wait, he does...

Just a hunch....temporarily, nul key 03 to remove th RGA feature. See if the problem goes away.

sounds like a wiring problem. change the feeders or look at the jack.
