Hello,

I'm working on SCO UNIX and I'm asking me if SCO Unix will have a long futur or if it is better that I move my application to a Linux OS like SUSE for example.
How long will I have SCO Unix Support from Caldera ?
Best Regards

I'm a Caldera Authorized Partner.

The latest briefings from them I attended indicated that they will be upgrading and supporting Openserver through at least 2 more release cycles (about 4-5 years).

It's still alive and generating cash for them.

The new Open Unix 8 release will be the high end flagship for them, with OpenLinux for the lower SMB market.

Don't forget that OU8 runs Linux apps natively via the new LKP interface, many times faster than 'real' Linux does and scaling to thousands of users.

Oops - The phrase ", many times faster than 'real' Linux" came out wrong.

I meant to say that Linux apps run at least as fast under LKP and 'some' will actually run faster, disk intensive apps especially.

A big, fat no. However, I can't see how it has survived this long, so maybe I'm wrong. The reason I discovered Linux back in '94 was because we were running a SCO Unix server and I absolutely despised it (not to mention the company itself). Unfortunately I have to support SCO now at my current job, so I pray daily for a quick demise to this blemish on the face of Unix.
