For the last week or so (since Bing updated to their new logo) my Bing search page has been displaying some pretty weird stuff:

~ the text from my search gets lined up below the search window
~ the Bing button moves to the middle of the search window
~ displays a double vision version of the search window

Thinking of abandoning it for Google. I would post a photo but evidently it must be from a URL.

Screen shot would be nice. Need a video driver update possibly BEFORE anything else?

Goombawaho,

Yes, a screen shot would be nice, but I cannot browse my hard drive to upload a photo. Have any free photo storage on the 'Net that I could use as a URL? SgarSync Free doesn't seem to be free, only a free trial.

Daniel

You can try imageshack, or photobucket.

Those are really free.

What browser is this happening in? IE? Have you tried a different one, like Chrome or FF?

I am using IE 10.0.10.

Now Bing is making me a liar. Went to take a screen shot, and it will not replicate the problem.

Typical! Will see if it does it again and take a picture.

1. Update video driver, regardless if there is an update. Reboot
2. Compatibility mode setting in IE
3. Does Firefox or Chrome do the same thing?

I would think that my brand new I7 laptop would have the latest drivers, but I will try that.

Daniel

That "brand new" laptop was imaged at the factory probably a few months ago and in the time that has passed, another driver could have been released. I'm NOT sure that that's the problem, but it's always good to knock it off the list.

Most OEMs will develop an image at the time of the units production, it will not be updated through its manufacturing run. So any updates to applications or hotfixes applied after setup of the new machine, it is always advisable to go out and look for updated drivers. Sometimes it is better to get them from the OEM, sometimes it is better to get them from the source. Intel drivers are always better to get from the source. OEM are notoriously lax in updating drivers that incorporate the latest drivers from the source. Mobile video drivers are touchy to say the least. Some of the chipsets from AMD or Nvidia have special OEM versions, that differ from release versions, or the OEM will and does sometimes lock out or not incorporate certain features of the chipset, and using the latest driver from them for the mobile chip can cause more harm then good. All I can say is try it, but be aware that sometimes the video driver from the OEM may have to be used to get the video to act correctly even if it is downlevel from release version of drivers. On my home computer I have an Nvidia GTX 560, I can not use the latest drivers from Nvidia v 3.31.65, it causes my mouse to stutter or stall. I have to use 3.14.22, it runs great.

So, from your extensive analysis we can conclude is that there is NOT a steadfast conclusion or single recommendation!! Though I do agree with your analysis 100%
I'm sure there would have to be a very dire problem for one of the major PC manufacturers to update their hard drive image being sent out on a current model.

Don't waste your time with BIng, Yahoo or Ask - google and chrome do the job much better, much faster without undesireable junk being returned.

Oh, forgot to tell you that the images are from my year old laptop that I just updated the driver.

No, Google are just better at hiding the ad's and their spyware.

If you want to truly break free, try SWIron (Chrome with the Google phone home bits) and DuckDuckGo.com (less junk)

Use disconnect search add on, it encrypts, and makes your searches private even from your ISP. HERE It is built by ex-Google and ex-nsa engineers. You can also use a better browser, like cyberfox found here. Nothing is 100%, but these are much better solutions.
