We've had three all having the same problems. They get 49.4CO6 errors at seemingly random points through the day.

I have upgraded the firmware and have been talking to HP support a fair bit but don't seem to be having much luck. As it has happened with all three that we have had in I'm assuming its likely to be something on our network causing the fault but have no idea of how to go about finding and stopping it.

cheers,

Chris

49 Errors are typically associated with firmware. Since you updated the firmware, the next item to suspect would be the firmware DIMM itself. HP's recommended troubleshooting chart for this is to remove any IO cards from the printer, and see if they are suspect. Although it could be the Jet Direct, I would think it's unlikely. After the Firmware DIMM, you're looking at a new formatter board.

I've not had any customers bring in this printer for service, but have had this exact same issue with a LJ 2300 giving intermitant 49 errors. Turned out to be the Formatter board. The printer I was servicing was under warranty, so there were no parts costs involved, and I could order the firmware DIMM and Formatter, and return them as needed.
