Has anyone tried this? Contactstore installed on Win 7 XP mode

As in the title we have a small site which is using a Win 7 PC as a voicemail PC with Contactstore. Playback is being problematic and it turns out that although CS is supported on XP and Vista, it isn't on Win 7(??).

So it got me thinking, Could I install XP Mode on the Win 7 PC and reinstall CS on this? I can't quite get my head round if it'll see CS as running on a different PC or not?

Anyone care to hazard a guess at any complications/pitfalls?

by any chance TheSmash are you using Authenticated recordings option?

CS - 7.8.16
Authenticated Recordings - YES!

I have the same problem at two different sites.

7.8.16 is supported on W7 32 and 64bit so that should not be a problem.

Peter, where are you getting that info from as in the documentation Win 7 is not listed as supported?

TheTaker - have you seen issues with the script at the top crashing the browser when selecting calls via the radio buttons?

I think i am mistaken but i am not sure.
The 7.0Q2 matrix shows W7 32 bit and the techtbulletin shows no W7 support.

Yeah, I was "sure" too when I installed them! Now I'm not so sure.

Server 2008 is supported so W7 should work fine.

The installation manual says XP,Vista,Server 2003 and server 2008.
So i guess you are out of luck.
But you should be able to install XP with a Windws 7 license.
I only have not done it myself yet.

Hi THeSmash, yep. Installed on vista ultimate home crape, xp and finally 2003 server. Same issue on all that browser crashes when you try and play an encrypted recording. Turned it off and works fine on all versions. Don't know if release 8 fixes this bug...

Yes, in the voice recording option in Manager, don't choose VRL Authenticated, just VRL. I tried the patch on all OS (meant to mention w7 tried also) but it made no difference. Calls that record from then onwards will be ok.

Such a pain as otherwise everything works perfectly!

Yea, will keep crashing but at least they are still there. such a pain, it's a joke, it simply doesn't work, they shouldn't have bothered with the option. but again, I haven't tried r8 yet, will do in new year and let you know how I get on...

They will say it's a feature, it's so encrypted you can't even listen to it, doesn't get any more safe than that

ha ha, yea! my one and only contactstore install - never again! what a rubbish system. we use redbox and now higherground IP recorders, cheaper, so much better and reliable. would be great though if chronicall was able to do the recordings itself rather than depending on vmpro port licenses - that would probably be tonnes better too!
