I'm currently in school, and we've covered the material for MCSE 2003+Security up to this point (70-270, 70-290, 70-291, 70-293, 70-294, 70-298, 70-299) and will be covering Net+ and Security+ soon.

As of yesterday, I'm an elective short of MCSA. Since we'll be covering Net+ (and I already have A+), this would satisfy the elective requirement once I pass the Net+ exam.

However, looking at the Microsoft Certification Planner, I see that I could get MCSA 2003+Security if I passed 70-299 and used Security+ for the elective. I plan on taking those anyway.

So, if anyone's taken the 70-299, how difficult is it in relation to the MCSE 2003 Core exams?

70-290 should be a good baseline. I give 70-290 about a 2 on an 1-5 scale. My experience with 70-291 was only about a 4 on the same scale. I'm taking 70-293 in about a week, so any feedback on that would be helpful as well.

Thanks in advance,

I haven't done 299 (and it's not on my schedule at all). I have taken 70-293 and it was a pain. When I was taking it I was sure that I failed, but then I ended up scorring higher on that test than any test so far.

293 was harder for me that 291 was.

Well, that wasn't bad. I studied far less for 70-293 than for 70-291, and although I didn't score as high (775 and 919 respectively) I'm quite satisfied.

Not too far to go now--I'm taking Network+ next week to complete my MCSA.
