I have a home user who is running Norton SystemWorks on her computer.

She disabled Norton AntiVirus while doing the VPN install as instructed, but cannot connect with VPN once she has completed the install and re-enabled AntiVirus.

Suggestions?

Slither,

You will need to provide more information than that. What kind of client is she using, what firewall/VPN concentrator is she connecting to, what OS does she have, and most importantly what error, if any, does she get when trying to connect? If you can get the answers to those questions from her you might already know the answer, if you do not know it those answers will help someone here figure it out at least. Is she using any personal firewalls? Like symantec personal firewall perhaps? that could be blocking the traffic from the client. Or the machine needs to be reset to work right. Or it has been reset and now the active NAV software has quarentined the executeable (I have not actually heard of this happening). It could be many, many things. Especially on a home/personal machine like this.

Ok, according to the user, here is the situation.

She uses Sympatico DSL for connectivity. She has recently had her computer redone with Windows 98, Office 2000, Norton Anti-Virus, and Norton SystemWorks.

Of the list of things on her computer now and what existed on it prior to reformatting, the only difference that she is aware of is the addition of Norton SystemWorks.

Prior to reformatting, her VPN connection to our firewalled network worked fine. Now, it does not. All of her devices show as having no conflicts and operating properly in Device Manager.

She can also access the Internet through her ISP without a glitch.

If you have a firewall, especially Nortons then disable it before connecting to VPN. Try to get the error that she is getting during the connection, this really could be anything, if the software is installed then her credentials may be incorrect. the specific error would help alot and also the name of the vpn client.
