I decided to take the required courses for Crystal Report certification. Even though I've been using the application since 1998 and consider myself at least an intermediate user, I began with the first course and am taking them all via eLearning. I found that there was a question I needed answered concerning course material (not content) and followed the online instructions and sent an email to the 'esupport@businessobject.com' address. A very nice automated response was returned, stating my exact question and the verification of their receipt of my question. This also said that a BO representative would contact me within one business day. After 2 business days with no reply, I emailed this same address again and have still heard nothing.

Has anyone has this same problem before with eLearning courses? Is there any other way I can get someone to respond?

maryellc,

I too have been in contact with Business Objects regarding Crystal Certification and found that contacting the education department by phone seems to be the better way of receiving a response. Not sure which country you're from but the UK office appears to respond reasonably quickly.

With regards to Crystal certification how did you find the e-learning? Basic level too easy? Costs too much, etc? I am in a similar position to you in that i've been using Crystal since 1998 and thus describe myself as at least an intermediate user. I'll be paying for the courses myself and so i'm rather reluctant to depart with my hard earned cash on courses that i probably already know.

After three days of no response to my original question, I took my concern to my sales rep with a few choice words. She forwarded my complaint to the Senior Manager of Professional Services, Systems and Programs, who emailed me asking what my beef was. I replied but not surprisingly, have heard nothing from him either.

Re: eLearning. If you've used Crystal products since 1998 and on a fairly regular basis, don't waste your money on the first course. I have not yet begun the 2nd course but based on the outline, you could probably get away with taking the exam (covers courses 1 and 2) for $150 - each eLearning course is $500 so if you pass you've saved yourself a few $. I would also suggest if/when you do take the courses, find a quiet area in which you can concentrate and take notes. I sit in an open air cube with much office traffic and it is very difficult to be undisturbed, even with the sign requesting that I not be disturbed.
