Hi All!
The company I consult for has determined that they are going to replace their current batch-oriented system with the real-time Tibco software. As far as I can tell, the main driver for this is "it's newer and it's cooler" than what they currently have. I am a developer who has worked with this company for a long time (even previous to their batch system) and know that to get the appropriate "bang-for-the-buck" they are looking for, the business processes will need to change as well. This is a medium size, multinational corporation that has very little real-time requirements as it stands now. The company believes that by switching out the current batch interfaces one-to-one with a tibco interface will gain them something, but I don't think this is the case without the business processes changing on the user's end.
I have several questions:
1) Has anyone (developers, managers, users, etc) experienced this kind of upgrade, and how was it handled?
2) Regarding the change in business processes, does anyone have any experience driving this type of change from batch to realtime?
3) Has anyone used Tibco? What are the hurdles involved to get this in place that the salespeople may not have mentioned? Especially in the development arena.
I know some of these questions are fairly open-ended, but I would appreciate any feedback anyone can provide regarding their Tibco experiences.
Thanks in advance!
