I have a Win2K Server instance running inside a RedHat Linux instance. I can access the Win2K server through VMWare, and do anything I'd normally do on a Win2K box, however, I have been unable to install SQL 7. I get a generic error "Setup failed to configure the server. Refer to the server error logs and cnfgsvr.out for more information." Unfortunately, none of those logs exist. I know that SQL 7 has trouble installing through Terminal Services, but was hoping for success with VMWare. I have successfully installed SQL 2000 through VMWare, but need 7.0 in this case. Thanks.

I beleive you may be running into an "order of installation" issue. I "beleive" you will need to uninstall SQL Sever 2000 (SS2K) first.

Then install SQL Server 7 (SS7) first. Then load SS2K next as a "Named Instance" because the default instance is already taken by SS7.

Let us know if this works!

Thanks
