I have several thousand 1140e phones that need to have their firmware upgraded. I would like to control the upgrades in an orderly fashion, automated preferably, say 50 or so each evening. This way I will not to create too large of a problem if they fail or have issues. Also I do not want to tax the Signaling Servers resources and affect the call processing of other phones that are registered to it.

So, how have you approached this task at your large company?

If you are using PoE, then cycle the power from the data switch to cause a reboot of the phones on that switch.

As another alternative has anyone used the "turbo" setting? If so, how many phones can receive the firmware update in an hour?

Have you used the automated start and stop for turbo and for usm upgrade?

Also, once you start usmupgradeall command, can you stop it?
